A Bit Of Balance

On your way to some time in Hawaii, you pause here for time sufficient to hear Me, with some thoughts about this coming adventure and how it balances with the life you normally lead. You look forward to this return to a familiar island. At the same time your regular life at home and at the university, is so pleasant and rewarding that “getting away” is not really necessary.

However, I want you to see this as a very positive portion of this year’s life. You have some “work” that should be accomplished, and this will keep you related to the university in a way, but otherwise live your life fully where you will be. Then when it is time to be home, accept that return to normality with the same joy.

Your preparation for the writing of this Spring’s Ruminations is, again, more than sufficient. Set aside some time to do this, and be sure and identify your unique location. In other words, give it some “Hawaiian flair.” After all, it shall focus on educating, and Hawaii and Punahou is the location of your start in this life work. It was in a Christian context, which, of course, is what I consider the best setting for education.

As you know, the balance in the lives of your parents is now quite structured and set, and you must be careful not to cause too much imbalance. Their lives are still worthwhile, even as they revolve mostly around each other and are what could be called “minimally productive.” They are not active as they once were, and this is an important lesson for you, should you have the “privilege” of living into your 80’s, as they have. For everything there is a season, and if you live long there is a time to move away from productive activity. Not everyone has this opportunity, obviously, but you should be aware of changes that should be made.

Now you notice that I gave you the word “privilege” in some special way. That means living a long earth life means that it takes longer to reenter the spiritual realm where life is even better… sometimes incredibly better. As I have told you repeatedly, I am surprised and amused at how some Christians hang on to earth life, seeking medical treatment for conditions that would worsen naturally and bring them “on over” at their appropriate time. Many old Christians come to realize the waste that went into their last weeks, months, or even years in the earth as they come into closer relationship with Me, in a spirit realm. The balancing of life in the earth and “beyond” is tricky, and your culture’s dominant attitude makes it even more difficult.

It still is good for you to travel some and have some variety in your life. Accept this, as you should each journey, as a test of your positive interpretation of and attitude toward life. Remember what was instrumental in the healing of your leg and foot disability. This must be maintained and shown forth, in this new place, as well as in your familiar surroundings. Remember this as you interact with people in the next 10 days.

As you move into the Fall term you will have the opportunity of considering any rebalancing your professional life should seek. Should you try to achieve a resurgence in writing productivity, as I often suggest you should? Should you set some goals, both ideal and achievable? Should the drop in the number of your advisers be a “sign” that you should get some of Our good ideas into print for the benefit of your profession? This would be an interesting, and challenging change of balance… rather like a “surge” before you retire.

Though I encourage you, continually, to give time and attention to each teaching opportunity and to make assignments that shall be time-consuming for you, I urge you to consider the questions above and consider making such a commitment to yourself… and to Dale. That would be more than a “bit” of balance, but one quite within your capacities.
