Easter

The title you received. Now you must keep your mind and spirit clear so that you may hear… just My voice. I “sat in on” your conversation with Dorothy yesterday and guided, somewhat, your remarks about this great Spring remembrance, Easter. You did reasonably well, but I shall reinforce certain statements and add a few of My own. You remember… I was there!
First, let Me reinforce your fundamental premise – Easter is, certainly, a mystery. There was a triumphal entry, now celebrated as Palm Sunday. There was increased animosity in the Jewish leadership toward Me. There was a last supper, a time of preparation and then confrontation in the garden… there was a trial that could have gone either way, but My actions pushed toward conviction. There was the scourging and the trudge to Golgotha… the painful crucifixion and the bittersweet experience of giving up My earthly life so that “salvation” might come more easily. There was the “time away”, which was active, while My body lay in the tomb. And then there was Easter morning and the bodily resurrection.
I can chronicle the events, as can any knowledgeable Christian, but this doesn’t answer the question, “Why did this have to happen?” That does remain a mystery. Take it on faith. This was the way for the Christ. It was not “necessary”. It just was The Way.
The important symbol is that I did something unreasonable for you. I did it for you… for the people then alive, for people alive today, and for those not yet conceived. The great spiritual principle is… do for others what they cannot do for themselves. Do for others… even those you do not like, or do not know. Do for those who don’t appreciate what you do. For in such an attitude and consequent actions the world is better… and spiritual growth abounds.
Easter says… life continues. While death is the ending of one aspect of life it is the beginning of another. When a spirit enters a fetus it is the beginning of a new human life, but the end of another in a spiritual plane. The two great remembrances for the Christian faith are, now, Christmas and Easter… the birth and the death… and the rebirth. Just as, in human time, Easter follows Christmas, but then Christmas follows Easter, so there is a circularity to life that is not appreciated properly by many Christians.
Yes, Easter could have been different. The trial could have gone differently, and those who loved Me and appreciated My ministry could have risen up to dominate the scene. Then Easter morning could have dawned with My bringing together the Jewish leaders, the people of all sorts, the rich and the poor, the Jews and the Gentiles, the healthy and the sick for a glorious realization of the beauty, yet the tenuousness, of life in the earth and the need to do for others rather than for self.
