Faith… In A Postmodern World

Whatever world you happen to be in, faith is the persistent essential. Faith is spiritual knowing that your life has purpose and direction, provided by Me, back toward Me. And, as you have just shared with your oldest son, I have assured you that I shall provide for your needs, surely, and a few wants, as well. This will continue to be mostly “natural provision,” meaning that most of what you need will not waft down magically, but will come through “normal channels,” like salary, summer teaching, and the like.

In the “modern world,” in which you grew up, it was assumed that grown children will do as well or better than their parents and that, after their basic education, they would take care of themselves and not need monetary assistance from you. In the postmodern world there is no such guarantee… and even the expectation is waning. There are not enough jobs for those who want or need such. Jobs are changing. For those who adapt well and quickly there will be opportunities… but also competition. Can I, the Holy Spirit, function as well in a postmodern world. It’s a challenge, but one I’ll accept.

I still call for faith in those who turn to Me, naturally, and in those I call and who respond. Faith is a challenge to your spirit. As faith produces what it should, the spirits of such faithful do grow and become stronger. When faith seems to be unable to produce desirable results it may become even stronger… or it may erode and lose power. Failure is more of a growth factor, either way, than success.

In a postmodern world, such as the one you now are in, there is both more reason to have faith in God… and less. An increasing number of life events have no direct analog in the Scriptural story of a pre-modern world, certainly… or the interpretations of what I recommend, through Scripture, can be quite varied. Conflicting and competing life events come simultaneously or in rapid-fire fashion. I call on you to have faith in the truth and power of these mystical writings, which cannot be directly checked for accuracy.

I give you a faith community in which to function, but most of these, as individuals, cannot share your faith in your relationship with Me and the products therefrom. I have given you a strong, well-functioning body. But now it is injured, and your faith in your body’s capacity to heal itself is being challenged. Continue these “non-medical” treatments, with faith in these, as well as in your total body.

Certainties are less in this postmodern age. Will you be able to work and to earn as long as you wish? Will retirement programs function as you expect, or will there be intergenerational strife encouraged by long-living retirees and young people who feel they are paying for too much that does not benefit them?

Can you have faith in your judgment as to what developments out of many, are those that should be encouraged and pursued, as well as those which should be opposed or ignored? Can you have faith in the judgments of your sons, as these can affect you?

You need to maintain the faith that what I tell you is TRUTH, for you. While you can and should tell some others about such Truths you needn’t expect recognition and approval, and even some rejection may come. The faith that you are doing exactly what you should be doing, in the right place helps you enjoy what you do, which makes the result better.
