Getting Your Attention

This is a date of remembrance. It was not a Sabbath day eight years ago, but it was this date. I sought your attention for a new venture, and you responded. You made a pledge that for one month you would rise early each day and would meditate in writing. It was an act of faith, certainly not as dramatic as Abraham’s, but in the same mold. You did not know what would happen, but you were open to a new spiritual experience. With this morning’s attention and obedience you renew your commitment to Me and to this time together. You certainly are welcome, o son.
On this day eight years ago you had no vision of this process and truly no hint of what it would produce. Eight years is not a long time, but it has been rather productive. Oh, I have chided you for the times you have stayed away, but I never have gotten the feeling that you would give this up. It is not an onerous task, and it is not too spooky or weird. I have not called you to be an obvious evangel, but I clearly have given you good news to proclaim in careful ways.
The good news is that I do desire for each soul to grow and mature and to live in the earth or elsewhere, exhibiting that maturity, in love and in selflessness. And I do want each of you back with Me, however long that takes.
There are many spiritual traditions, with variations galore. I tell you that My favorite is the Christian tradition, for this one proclaims that I, Almighty God and the Holy Spirit, came into the earth as Jesus of Nazareth, who became the Christ and the Messiah. I became one of My own creations, a process which is more mystical than tangible and not quite explainable in words. You are part of that good tradition that accepts predestination. You know, as do others in this tradition, that you have a destiny in this earth life – one partly determined by Me. You are both chosen and called. The task… the destiny… is not of great importance in total worldly terms. You shall have no great notoriety or recognition. The call came, and you answered… and then acted in faithful fashion.
You are part of the variation in this tradition that sees life, in active form, as being longer than the one earth life now being experienced. You accept life everlasting, with continuous potential for growth and development.
The path that is yours in this tradition is as a teacher of a secular subject in a secular institution. This is part of your predestination. You sometimes speak of decisions made about your work and place of residence, so I assure you now that, while I did not demand or have your attention at those times as I do now, I was an active part of each decision. You were guided to the decisions I wanted for you. It appears that you had alternatives, but, finally, you didn’t. I took away some of your freedom in order to guide you to this position of great freedom, vocationally and spiritually.
You have been given a task that you understand fairly well – to help bring back a spiritual dimension to the health field that health education serves. The opportunities that you have in teaching and in service are fairly unique. You accomplish these as well as you can, with the energies you are willing to expend.
