Health Is…

There is little direct evidence in My Holy Scriptures that I, in any of My forms, am concerned about health, as this convention is considering it. As Jesus, I did some healing, but I was much more concerned with spiritual relationships than with nutrition, blood pressure, and other matters now so directly tied to “health.” I said “Give no thought for tomorrow. Today is sufficient.” Does that mean that you should not be concerned about preventive measures? Or about practices that may only have an effect after years of life?

You, and other Christians, can assume that I am in favor of modern medical practices (even all of them), but it can only be an assumption, based in Scripture. You have to remember that I, as Jesus, gave up My life in its prime, in order that many others might enjoy a fuller relationship with Me, God Almighty and Me, the Holy Spirit. This says, fairly strongly, that there can be reasons for any of you to give up this earth life in order that others might benefit. And also know that numbers are not important. My sacrifice has no less value because only a portion of the earth’s people truly call Me Lord. Any sacrifice you might make for one person would be accepted, if the action were motivated from your spirit.

So, yes, health may be exhibited by doing something that is dangerous to continued physical functioning. With this perspective then hear that I generally applaud healthy styles of living, but why? So that there can be years in which you offer yourself in service, be in relationship to Me, and grow and develop in spirit. So if one is healthy and long-lived and yet does not live life in this preferred spiritual way then I have no feeling of praise for the physical health.

Health is… knowing… the meaning of life and something about why you’re here and what you should be doing. Health is… knowing… that I am the Creator, Sustainer, and Teacher… the Healer and the Guide… and therefore close, continuing relationship with Me is the essence of healthy behavior. Health is… living… according to what you know. You are here at this health education convention, and it matters not whether I arranged for you to be here, whether it was completely your choice, or some combination. What matters is that you live as a healthy person here, and take all the opportunities possible to be active here and serve Me and others.

You dealt with your poster session this afternoon in quite a healthy way. You were not overwhelmed with interested folk, but you took advantage of chances to talk with individual people. You were a commendable human being in that role. Go ahead and enjoy that “success”.

Health is… that artistic combination of being a consistent person in all situations AND in begin different, as different situations demand. You have a way of being that is most comfortably you, and yet sometimes you should be more gregarious and at other times more quiet and introspective. Sometimes I guide this rather directly and sometimes I leave it to you. In this way I am practicing what I am teaching.

Health is vigor. Life is to be lived with enthusiasm and energy. When a person cannot or will not live thusly she is not healthy, whether or not there is any diagnosable cause. Vigor need not always be loud, boisterous, raucous. You are quiet, in a meditative state, and yet you are writing vigorously. A healthy person even displays a vigor in their relaxation.
