I Have Been Waiting…

for you to get the pen that I encouraged, and return a tad more frequently. I still have much to say to you… and you do have plenty of time for Me now. You look out at a pleasant yard (which does need mowing again), and you are thankful for the trees that some previous owners planted… and you recall the young sprouts that you planted… on Greer Rd. and on Casanueva. You do have plenty of greenery here, but you still should plant something… just to keep the tradition alive.

You look over and see that wood stove, and you realize that in order to have it as your heat you’ll have to cut some trees at the Farm or buy some… or some of each. It shall be both fun AND a task to adapt to this new place… and accept some changes in your lifestyle.

Yes, o son, you haven’t made a major change in your life, even though it may seem so as you go through the fall… then the winter… and on into spring. You shall have many leaves to rake… and take back out to your Farm. Yes, as you look out you can be thankful to unknown “neighbors” who planted trees when this was just on the edge of town…as you have done around homes you have had in earlier years. Your challenge, come Spring, will be to do some planting that shall be “yours” for the coming years. You can be more observant, now, of places that would welcome some flowering… even as you recognize that the trees around do limit the direct sunlight.

And I do see that you appreciate when it was “your time” and when (now) you can be grateful for what others have done… before you. Yes… “for everything there is a season… and a time for every matter, under heaven.”

You look out and see a skinny little squirrel, and it reminds you that you should be feeding birds and small animals, so that they “appreciate” your yard, as you shall.

You are now into another new year without responsibilities at the University. You can say you are fully retired AND ALSO into a new and different lifestyle that is not yet established. You have steered way from responsibilities, but now you wonder what you shall re-accept… or how you want these next few years to be. Consider such…and to what extent you should “wait to be asked”… or let it be known what you want to do. I see, now, as I said, that you are now just enjoying this time away from tasks and duties.

I shall lay one task upon you, that you should appreciate. Go back to these volumes of Teachings and begin to reread them, at, let’s say, a volume a week. You could “assign” yourself 1-3 volumes a week, with 1 or 2 additional current Teachings. I want some “discipline” in this, BUT I don’t want you to feel guilty if you don’t do ALL that you set for yourself in any week. I realize both that you have much more free time than in earlier years, and that you are not as willing and able to follow through as you were in earlier times. I, your friendly Holy Spirit, am not limited by time and energy, but I have observed servants of Mine for… o many, many years… and I Am aware of what human aging does, often, to resolves… even toward Me.

So, here’s My suggestion: read 3-5 Teachings a day… as a goal. But… don’t feel that you have to “make up” when you can’t fulfill this goal. You don’t have to pledge… just see how you do with this.
