Life: A Review

You are in the midst of life. Now you are in the later portion of a good life in the earth where you have had a pretty good number of roles. Some you have accomplished well, and others not so well. But you have learned, from Me, the meaning and purpose of life, and you feel comfortable with this knowledge… even as you are often reluctant to communicate it to others. Hear, o son, as I offer you a review lesson on life on this cool Christian Sabbath.

Yesterday you experienced your oldest son settling into the first job in a promising academic career. That is and should be pleasing to you, for although he is not following in your particular field he is in academic life… the life you have enjoyed so completely here in the earth. He has some hardships, but no more than will be useful in furthering the growth of his spirit. His spiritual path is somewhat different from yours, but it is a strong Christian one, and that, also, should be pleasing to you.

The semester for you has begun, and it looks to be exciting and challenging, even with courses that are familiar. One of the “secrets” of the full life is approaching tasks you have done before with spirit and with a creative zeal. Nothing has to be “old hat” or boring. It’s the spirit with which you do anything that is finally important, and you can do even an old familiar task with the newness that only developed spirit can help initiate and sustain.

You are in the midst of another Ruminations, which you should finish this week. This now is almost a familiar part of your life. I want it to be familiar enough so that it isn’t traumatic, but yet retains a freshness that I want to characterize our relationship. You know that I provide ample material, leaving you just the difficult task of deciding which portions to include and on which to comment.

Your Fall Sunday morning class commences this morning, and this is your other regular and direct way of sharing these observations on life that I give to you with some others. Do not be concerned about numbers nor about recruiting. Let that be My task and that of others. Yours is only to select the Teachings to use, to read each with understanding to the class, and to lead the discussion with a fullness of your spirit. Vary the format occasionally, even to the formation of small groups, but the class is well established in this present mode. Continue to lead it well, serving Me in this special way.

There is no particular reasons for you to know of how your life has developed before this present life in the earth. Just be satisfied with the knowledge you are on a good spiritual path… that you have had many experiences that have prepared you for and that bear upon this life… but that you clearly have plenty to occupy your energies now. I don’t deny the value of history. Presently, however, just be satisfied in knowing that you have one.
