New Rhythm? Not Quite Yet

No, o son, I, your friendly, “pastoral” Holy Spirit am not yet satisfied with the rhythm of your life. You should be moving more definitely to a slower, less “busyed” pace, with, as I’ve told you, these times of Teaching being of top priority. You worked today on Church Minutes, and you certainly have composed many of these over nearly 50 years. Today you were missing a crucial piece, just another indication that your continuation in this regular task is questionable. Remember… you shouldn’t wait until your incompetence is obvious. Give “younger folks” a chance!

You are pleased that son John Patrick has initiated these times of videotaping your reading of Teachings and then discussing them with him, still on tape. You have no idea what he plans to do with these… what they might be “used for”… but you are pleased that some of these, at least, will be in this “audiovisual format” for the future. You are leaving behind… when you do finally come on over… much in the way of handwritten Teachings, augmented now with the printed pages, done with love by this third son of yours. And yet I’ll say, again, that you are not to be concerned about their future use. You are just to write what I have you hear, from Me.

It is comfortable to have few continuing responsibilities. You had a fine career, and you are doing fairly well in this slow off-ramp from most of what you once did. You were pleasantly surprised to have the opportunity, yesterday, to talk with a small group of Health Education majors, about your career and “how it has been.” You did that well, spontaneously, but consider musing on that, a bit, so that, should there be another opportunity, you could be more sure of including the “most important” accomplishments and conclusions.

That would involve contemplating your life, as it has been and making some gentle effort not to forget what has been most “memorable.” Coming up here, to the City, has been a bit too frequent, of late. You don’t have to “over-plan” your life. Just be more aware of how you’re using time… and what alternatives might be. I still like spontaneity. I don’t advise super-organization at your stage in life.

( 3:30 / 6:37 )

The basis for the best “rhythm of life” that I’m recommending is the best balance for you, at your age. This means that you will give less attention to the future, and more to the now and the past. With news currently coming from newspapers, news magazines, radio news and TV news it is easy to feel that this is what is of most importance. Yet, as you mused today (between the portions of this Teaching… Good, I say!) there was a time when Japan and Germany were the “enemies” of your country, while Russia and China were allies. This should suggest to you that I allow different balances (and you recognize this term as one of My “most used.”)

The base of the rhythm I’m leading you toward is one of My Dominance and Power. No current nation, including your own, has powers that can be maintained, no matter what. The evening news brings stories of computer hackers being able to slow down e-commerce. Is this really of consequence to Me? Do I care what happens to Yahoo!?

At your stage in life, trust in Me and review the life you’ve been privileged to experience and enjoy. Know that you, personally (and as an elderly couple), are minimally related to what is “big news of the day.” You split wood that you’ve saved, and you have a pleasant cheery fire in your fireplace. I don’t say ignore the news, but have the spiritual maturity to be little concerned with most of it. As I have… little…
