Seven Years: An Anniversary

This, o son, is a two day remembrance, and I did awaken you in time for you to hear Me and still get to your morning responsibility. This is a remembrance of the day I called you to this meditative opportunity/task, now seven years past. You had a frightening but quite natural experience… as most others in your culture would describe it. Yet you knew it was a mystical experience, even at the time. You didn’t envision its carrying on for seven years nor how it would change you. But you can’t truly envision the next seven years either… except that you expect them to be a continued feast and not years of famine.

Faith is what you exhibit as you come to Me, usually in this early morning time. The ritual for most days is well-established, and it is the best for the continuation of Our relationship. As I have told you, I like ritual, and We have established a favored and regular way to conduct this meditation. Still, also know that I am supremely adaptable, and I can show this by offering you a good Teaching in almost any place at almost any time. So, as you know, if you are being nomadic you still are in contact with Me, and the Teachings from new and different places are an important part of Our continuing story.

You were called… yes indeed! You had internalized and were comfortable with the knowledge that this is possible, and you even had a sense that you were called, but to what? Then came the call to action, for which you were ready and willing. The anniversary of that call and that acceptance is what We mark this day.

Faith and trust were and are important. You are in a culture that gives little official and serious credence to a direct, tangible relationship with Me. I told you, early on, that you were to remain Presbyterian, with your particular mixture of orthodoxy and liberality in place and to be maintained. I have quite enough servants who break away from their roots in the establishment and found a new, pure expression of relationship with Me. Some of these are called to do this, and some break forth in zeal, disregarding My calls for stability and continuity. You had to have faith that you and I could accomplish this within this church structure… and you had to trust that I would do what you could not, with your own capacities.

You acknowledge now that I have been able in this regard, and that you can continue as a Presbyterian, even as you must be, essentially, a “closet mystic.” It also was pleasing to you that you are to continue as a health education professional and professor, taking opportunities to reestablish spirit as a legitimate dimension of health and human/spiritual interaction as an important wellspring of positive health. You even have the right to create such opportunities. You need not wait upon Me entirely.

I give you more than you can accomplish, when these desires are added to legitimate ones you have, plus the responsibilities inherent in your life… and some time to rest and play. I don’t apologize for this. I want you to accomplish more than you would do comfortably. Yet I am aware of your physical limitations. I can give some super-natural help, but you will need to monitor yourself and make whatever changes in your lifestyle that seem desirable or necessary. I do want you functioning fully for the next seven years!
