Spiritual Health

You have arisen early on what will be a long day, o son. You are off today on a journey of interchange… a trip in which you will share experiences and understandings, and will receive such from others as well. But this morning you have some concern about this one seminar, the one on Spiritual Health. What would be more appropriate than My giving you an “update” on this theme? Be sure to read your second Ruminations again, and take along several copies. You might even read again the four original teachings.

Let Me also assure you, in preface, that it is I, the Holy Spirit of the One God, who does speak to you. I have elected you for this relationship, and you are attuned to it. Do not ignore the scoffers and the disbelievers, particularly those who are also obviously servants, such as Mabel and Michael… I have My reasons for “operating” as I do. Just be faithful to Me and to this meditation. It would be well for you to read My Holy Scriptures more often. I do recommend this as the best test and balance for what I teach you here.

Spiritual health, by your own definition, is the quality with which your spirit functions and helps in the adaptation processes of life. Your spirit is your direct link with the Divine, with Me, whether one acknowledges this or not. As you tell your story, which includes this direct interaction with Me, the spirits of others can and will respond, even if they (like Kris) do not “believe in Me”. The spirit is also a link with your eternal life, the experiences you have had before this life, and those that will come after. It is that which gives true meaning to experiences you have had in your earlier years in this life. It is that which unifies these experiences with ones that are yours now, influencing your choices involving future experiences.

Most fundamentally, though, the spirit in a person is that force that urges you to consider others before self, to give to others rather than keep for self, to love others who seem unlovely. Your spirit meets and meshes with the spirits in other individuals, the spirit in groups, and the spirit in places and things. When mature, well-developed spirits interact it is a joyful experience for Me. Be aware as this happens during this week.

The health of spirit is maintained and enhanced by proper feeding, by exercise, and by a balance of care/caution and of risk-taking. Strength of spirit comes from the exercise of this aspect of self, and a fundamental truth is that the strong get stronger, and the weak get weaker. Yet the greatest challenge to one with a strong spirit is to relate to, and help relating to, “the brother who is weaker”. Your spirit can be the needed nourishment of another. And, as in matters of the spirit, you usually grow and are strengthened the most when you are not purposing to do so.
