Tears For Peter

This morning I have tears in my eyes… a remembrance of yesterday morn when tears came because Peter had remembered. The direction from him was quite definite… even to the number of which weeds to include in the arrangement. But why the tears?

Because. BECAUSE. The light that is Peter shone forth in the bright morning, and I heard the light. And that brought joy… and the joy brought tears. Tears of joy for a life continuing, and a light that remembers. Amen!

Remembering is central to our faith. We remember the acts of the past – the acts of men and the acts of God – and the result should be joy. The Lord has done mighty works of yore… to show His power and His mercy. And He has done small works among us to test our mettle. Our response to God’s works should be joy, whatever the “content”, for “God is among us”, the work says.

Death is an evidence of God’s power, for He has power over death and over life here in the earth. “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” But in the joy of God’s work the response is tears, for all is not as man thinketh it to be. Death is a work, and the work bringeth joy, and the joy bringeth tears. As tears and joy are not antithetical, neither are death and life, and life and death.

Hallelujah!
