The Visit Continues

The visit here, in this familiar yet continually changing place, is now 2/3 pau. Once you thought that the projected time here would be too long, but you now see that several of the activities you listed are not going to “be.” At the same time your desire to be home and back to your quieter, more contemplative life increases. There must needs be compromises during these last days and nights here.

I’ll remind you, naturally, that you haven’t done well in expressing the spiritual dimension to this visit, in words and in observations. You still have some time, and let this be a reminder to you of these opportunities you’ve missed… and that you still have. You did accomplish a start on Our next Ruminations, and that’s a plus – the best use of time, even on a visit such as this one. (I’m not shy about indicating My priorities!)

There wasn’t time for the “remembrance” of the Arizona and the start of WW II for your country. In retrospect it was both “your war” and an “odd war.” You did participate as a “Navy man,” but with no combat experience. It was “odd,” in that the Japanese, the feared enemies, in this part of the world, are now solid and valued partners in trying to keep the global situation stable (and they are now suffering, economically)… and tourists from Japan are now vital to this State’s economy. I smile as former animosities fade, yet I also see new ones arising… and others persisting.

It is interesting to observe, on this relatively small island, the contrast between the scenes at Waianae/Makaha and this complex that is Honolulu. There is still the quieter, slower (even junkier) life, while here the speed increases and buildings rise and traffic has become almost scary for you. Could you live here comfortably again? That’s a question you won’t have to answer, but you will return to “normal” life with a fresh appreciation of where I want you to be.

As you realize, there are more “things to do,” now, than the time left will permit. There is a frustration in this, but I recommend keeping the balance between frenetic activity and quiet appreciation of whatever you’re doing. You are having thoughts, again, of “will this be the last visit?” It could be… and that would be fine, at your age. OR you might continue these pilgrimages to this place that once was “yours” and to this one remaining direct “relative,” (“upline” so to speak). I’d advise appreciation, as if it were “the last.”

But… again… the contrast between your home place and what you are experiencing of this island is quite pronounced. It is clear which you prefer, for living this portion of your earth life, and it is less appealing to travel for more “exotic” times. Just accept this as appropriate to your age and life style. (I am pleased with your life and “choices,” so you should be, too.) Remember… “for everything there is a season.”

There also is a contrast between the affluence, life style, and “position” of this portion of your family here and your own situation. And then you see the contrast between what you and Lenore have and Mabel’s life situation… and you judge that, finally, you are quite well-off. You had a father who was thrifty and not ostentatious with his money, and now he passes the “opportunity” to you. And these “contrasts” are puny, compared to what I see… and participate in… here in the Earth.
