Traveling

You are in the midst of traveling, o son, and, as usual, this is a very rewarding experience. Because you are traveling, others get your insights, offered in different ways, many who would not otherwise encounter you. You, in turn, learn from others as the sharing of spirit goes on continuously.

But you shall need to shift your rhythm in traveling as you prepare for this Fall’s venture. It shall not be a major change, but first you must become more fully aware of your present pattern and be able to make some conscious adjustments in it. The primary tenet still holds: if what you are doing is worthwhile, worry not about the myriad things you are not doing. For example, this meditation takes time that could be utilized in more obvious interactions, but it should remain a valued part of each day that it is possible. (Now when would it truly be impossible? I don’t ask for a daily commitment, but do consider… is there not time for this each day?)

There is an artistic balance that you need to consider. You need to become more conscious of sharing with people… and yet I don’t want you to lose the spontaneity that is important to good interchanges. You can consider another sharing session with Dick Freeman, for example, but don’t plan it out completely. It probably wasn’t appropriate to develop it last evening, but you were a little slow in awareness of his spiritual inclinations. Now you are more ready, but don’t overplan “the attack”. That’s all I want to caution you about.

As you become more attuned to matters of the spirit you will find many who are quite willing to share stories, experiences, and convictions. But many just “pass you by” if you are not ready to recognize tentative signals, and if you are not willing to offer provocative queries. But the balance I spoke of earlier is crucial – last night, for instance, when asked about your repertoire of songs, you included “gospel songs”, without any great evangelistic intention. That’s nice… somewhat better than consciously and in planned fashion putting this as number one interest. So be aware of your priorities, but also of the “place” of the other person. When you’re traveling you have to rely on small clues and cues. You’ll have to take some chances… balanced with some “times to be silent”.

As you become more focused on your Fall project you shall become more conscious of choice in persons you seek to know better. Perhaps it will be someone you already have met… and another time a complete stranger. Seek a balance in sex, in social position, in age, in personality. Also be aware of the value coming from people who initiate the contact with you (rather than you with them). Also, just to make it more interesting, you should be alert for people that I purposely send to you… to add to your insights, to profit from yours, or for your mutual benefit.

No, they will have no obvious signs upon them, nor will they present any secret codes or handshakes. Just know that among the people you encounter while traveling will be some whom I have purposely sent. The interesting result probably will be that you will profit more from every person, because he or she could be My “chosen one”. You can only guess, and it won’t be worth the effort. Just consider that it is like unto meeting “an angel unawares”.

You should begin carrying a small note book wherein you put information about people you meet. You haven’t considered this yet, but some of your material can come from letters. You shall meet people while traveling, but you may not have time for enough conversation to be beneficial. Write down name, address, and important clues… then, write. Some of the responses will provide excellent insights. That’s where having a publication, like Ruminations, also can be helpful.

Traveling is an important part of your present rhythm. Appreciate it fully as it is in progress. Long not for home and stability while you travel… nor for travel as you are home. This is wasteful.. Appreciate each as you are experiencing it. Be My servant always, o son.

Amen… and amen.
