When The Brain Stops…

When the brain stops functioning there can be no more human consciousness. So says medical science. The brain is the site of consciousness and the ultimate indicator of life. If the brain is not functioning there is no life. And you saw a movie based on that principle, portraying, however, that a strange and uncontrollable consciousness was still experienced. It was not called spiritual (at least you didn’t hear such a designation), but I shall call it that as I comment on that aspect of life here before the sun appears.

As I have told you many times, in many contexts, there is a consciousness that emanates from the brain, and there is one that is of the spirit. In “new beings” and in those in whom spirit has not developed well the mind, or the consciousness of the brain, dominates. As spirit becomes more developed and more dominant a much better balance is achieved. In your case the balance is a relatively good one, which allows your spirit to be in direct contact with Me in these times of unique meditation, with your mind supplying the words and the rules of punctuation and sentence structure in English. Yet you still experience times, in the midst of a Teaching, when your mind interrupts and causes you to lose contact with Me. It sometimes is difficult for Me to restore the “flow”… and I can do so only when your spirit overcomes your mind.

Well, one theme of the film you saw was that when the brain was “shut down” there were some horrendous experiences, reliving of times of cruelty, carelessness, excess, and selfishness. And these were so powerful that they continued to influence the person even after the brain resumed its normal function. The law of karma posits that everyone must face those times of self-indulgence and must somehow atone for sins committed. Death of the body is not a barrier to the reality of this law. The spirit demands such confrontations.

When such “low times” in life are consciously remembered there is the necessity of somehow dealing with “unfinished business.” When such times have been truly forgotten or have been repressed then spirit must deal with them after the brain line is flat. And it becomes more complex when the spirit isn’t strong enough to resolve such a happening and the spirit becomes part of a new human. The karmic resolution is still necessary, but the new being has no context for the former condition. Some criminal and abusive behavior stems from such causes, and no “normal” therapies will be of much value.

However, the film did not picture the positive side, which, in many people, is the most dominant. You get to reexperience times when you gave of yourself to others, when you were in true communication with Me, and when you truly showed love. You can experience these, when the brain no longer functions and mind no longer interferes, in a fullness that is most satisfying. These do not negate the more negative ones, but they afford a more comfortable balance. The confrontation is not as terrible as the film portrayed.

The important knowledge for you to have now, when our brain and mind are still evidencing full earth life, is that these resolutions should be made now, and hence the experiences after death will be much less traumatic. You will have to deal only with ones you have forgotten or have repressed. So I encourage you to consider instances and conditions where you have not been truly loving and consider how these can be resolved in some human way.
